Poole Town have since confirmed the signing of the forward, who scored 14 goals in two seasons for the Peacocks.
Seymour joined the club on loan from Torquay United at the start of the 2025-26 season and later made that move permanent.
He will now play for fellow Southern League Premier South side Poole Town.
In a statement posted on social media, Taunton Town chairman Brian Pollard said: “Whilst Ben has been an important player for the club, the board felt that the terms offered were in the best interests of Taunton Town Football Club, and this decision was not taken lightly.
“With Ben's contract due to expire at the end of the season, it was important that we carefully considered the opportunity presented.
“This transfer represents a club-record fee and an excellent commercial outcome for the club.
“However, the decision followed lengthy discussions with the manager, who remains confident in the quality, depth and character of the current squad.
“As a club, we remain fully focused on achieving our objectives for the season. We are actively working to strengthen the squad and can reassure supporters that we will continue to invest wisely in both the playing side and the long-term future of the football club.
“The agreement is a positive outcome for all parties. We thank Ben for his commitment in a Taunton Town shirt and wish him every success in the next stage of his career.”
