Marink Reedijk can’t wait to meet the Hibs fans at first home game

AFTER three weeks in charge, Marink Reedijk experience his first home game tomorrow when Falkirk visit Easter Road.

And he can’t wait to meet the Hibs supporters for the first time.

Speaking on Friday at the club’s training centre Reedijk told Hibs TV: “I’m really looking forward to it”

“This is one of those special moments for everyone who starts working here.

“I’ve heard a lot of very good stories about home matches, the crowd and the atmosphere, so I’m really looking forward to this first match at home.”

Hibs go into the game off the back of a narrow defeat to Dundee United in what was Reedijk’s first match in charge.

Despite the result, the Hibs Manager insisted there was some positives to take from the performance and those 90 minutes have helped shape the training week in the lead-up to Falkirk.

“The preparation has been good. We evaluated last Saturday’s match, took the positives, and identified the areas we definitely need to improve.

“We tried to bring those things onto the pitch through individual, unit and team sessions, and prepared the players as well as possible for tomorrow.

“As I said before, in the final third we need to be a little bit more decisive and precise.

“We also need to be brave and dare to do the things we ask of the players. We did that in the first 20 minutes, which was really good. I think going 1-0 up at that point would not have been a surprise.

“But when things don’t go in our direction, which will happen at times, we need to maintain that bravery and continue doing the things we ask of the players. We need to make sure we bring our identity onto the pitch. That’s important for us to focus on.

“Falkirk like to play football and have some good footballers at the back,” Reedijk continued.

“They like to build from the back, which sometimes looks a little bit Dutch. For us, the challenge will be finding a way to overcome that and making sure we dominate the match.

“At the same time, we can challenge them through our own style of play, our guidance and who we are as a team.

“In terms of team news, the positive news is that (Jamie) McGrath and (Adam) Mayor return to the squad.

Unfortunately, Callum Wright, Nathan Lowe and Jacob Devaney are out of the squad due to injury, so they will miss out.”

Rocky Bushiri, Jordan Obita and Kanayo Megwa remain longer-term absentees.
