Atlanta Hawks point guard CJ McCollum has recently given Angel Reese a new nickname ahead of the WNBA Finals.
The Atlanta Dream are set to take on the Golden State Valkyries in this year’s final, with the series getting underway on Saturday.
Ahead of the series, Hawks star McCollum called Reese the ‘Queen of the South’, and she has now responded, saying ‘I appreciate the love and support’.
Reese was asked about the nickname during a recent interview, as shared by Meghan L. Hall on X/Twitter.
She said: “Shoutout to CJ McCollum. I appreciate the love and support, and I appreciate the support from the Hawks.
“It is really cool when your men’s team shows love to us and shows a lot of support to us. I guess he’s saying that because I played LSU too and now I’m here in Georgia in Atlanta.
“So, I appreciate the name, I guess that’s my new nickname: Queen of the South.”

Reese has been one of the Dream’s top players in the postseason and will now be focused on bringing the championship back to Atlanta for the first time.
The Dream have previously made it to three finals but failed to win any of them, last making an appearance in 2013.
