Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has revealed that his youngest son, Gabriel, wants to play for Ireland rather than England.
His older brother Owen played for England, but Gabriel hopes to follow a different path.
The teenager is making good progress in Dublin, where his father coaches the Ireland team.
Gabriel attends Blackrock College, a private school known for its rugby success.
He has already taken on a leadership role at the school.
The youngster was named in Blackrock College's 2026 Junior Cup leadership group.
He joins Felix Burke in supporting team captain Adam Nutley.
It marks another big step in his young rugby career.
Speaking in July, Farrell was asked whether his youngest son wanted to represent Ireland.
“If you asked him that three years ago, never mind if we get to the end of this contract, that would be a shoo-in, I would have thought.”
The comments came after Farrell agreed to extend his contract as Ireland head coach until 2031.
Gabriel comes from a famous rugby family.
His older brother Owen enjoyed a superb career with England, winning 112 caps and helping his country reach the 2019 Rugby World Cup final.
Andy Farrell has also praised Gabriel's talent. He believes his youngest son was already ahead of Owen at the same age.
“He's goal-kicking already. He's probably ahead of Owen at that age.”
As RUCK previously reported, Gabriel hopes to play for Ireland one day.
He continues to make progress in school rugby, but his international future is still undecided.
However, his father's comments suggest Ireland is his preferred choice.
Let’s meet the Farrell kids below
Andy Farrell's eldest son, Owen, has followed in his father's footsteps to become one of England's greatest rugby players.
Born on September 24, 1991, in Billinge, England, Owen made his Saracens debut at just 17. He went on to become one of the best fly-halves of the professional era.
Known for his accurate kicking, fierce determination and leadership, Owen won more than 100 England caps and captained his country.
He also became England's all-time leading points scorer, overtaking the great Jonny Wilkinson.
His success did not stop there. Owen toured three times with the British & Irish Lions and won several Premiership and European titles with Saracens. He also spent time in France with Racing 92.
Away from rugby, Owen is married to his childhood sweetheart, Georgie. The couple tied the knot in 2018 and have two sons, Tommy and Freddie.
Despite his fame, Owen prefers to keep his family life private. Georgie and their children have remained an important part of his life throughout his career.
Owen is the eldest of Andy Farrell's four children. While comparisons with his famous father were always likely, he has built a remarkable career of his own.
He is now widely regarded as one of England's greatest players and a true star of modern rugby.

Andy Farrell's youngest son, Gabriel, is following in his family's footsteps as he makes his mark in Irish schools rugby.
The teenager attends Blackrock College in Dublin, one of Ireland's most famous rugby schools. He has already shown promise with his leadership, decision-making and kicking ability.
Rugby runs in the family. His father, Andy, is Ireland's head coach and a former rugby league star. His older brother, Owen Farrell, is England's all-time leading points scorer.
Gabriel has also taken on a leadership role at Blackrock College. He previously captained the school's first-year team to victory in a friendly against Castletroy College.
The opposition were led by Paddy O'Connell, another promising young player and the son of Ireland legend Paul O'Connell.
Andy has previously praised Gabriel's development, suggesting his youngest son was already showing impressive kicking skills.
“He's goal-kicking already. He's probably ahead of Owen at that age,” Farrell said.
Despite his English roots, Gabriel has spent much of his childhood in Ireland and could one day represent the country at international level, subject to eligibility rules.
His father's latest comments suggest Ireland has long been Gabriel's preferred choice.
For now, the youngster remains focused on his development at Blackrock College. However, with his family's rugby pedigree, he is certainly a name worth watching.
