Arsenal go into Matchday 8 with a lengthy injury list. Mikel Arteta gave his latest updates ahead of the Everton game on Saturday 24 October, and the news is mixed. One of the club's key attackers is facing a spell on the sidelines.
| Player | Problem | Status for Everton | Expected return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bukayo Saka | Left quad (muscle) injury, picked up against Bayern Munich | Out | Around a month, if nothing changes |
| William Saliba | Recovering from lower back surgery | Out | At least a couple more weeks; another MRI next week |
| Christos Tzolis | Hamstring | Out | Hoped to be back in about a week |
| Piero Hincapié | Not specified | Doubtful | Could make Everton if he trains in the coming days |
Saka: Arteta admitted it doesn't look good but said the club must wait and see how the injury responds. The month-long estimate is a media projection, not an official club timeline.
Saliba: The defender is still working back from back surgery. Arteta said he needs at least a couple more weeks and will have a further scan next week.
Tzolis: The hamstring problem is "progressing really well" after a second MRI, and Arteta hopes to have him back within roughly a week.
Hincapié: His availability depends on how he trains over the next few days.
Losing Saka removes Arsenal's most reliable source of chances on the right, so Arteta will have to rethink how the attack is built. Without Saliba, the defence has to be reshuffled again. If Hincapié recovers in time, that gives Arteta a useful extra option at the back.
Everton: No injury or suspension news was reported for them at the time of writing.
