Toon fans gathered this weekend to honour Newcastle United hero Kevin Keegan at a free public display at the Baltic Centre. Thousands of supporters paid tribute to the Magpies legend following his passing, leaving heartfelt messages, shirts, scarves and mementos outside St. James' Park.
Now, those tributes were part of a free public display at Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, offering visitors the chance to honour the legend. One diehard fan who had attended the display was Beverley Smith, 50.
Beverley, a carer from Mickley, Northumberland, said: "I'm here to honour a special man, a legend who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was so special and walking in toward really pulled on my heart strings, it was very emotional.
"I've loved Kevin Keegan since I was a young girl. I used to enjoy playing football and wore number seven. I was given the nickname 'Little Kevin Keegan', which I absolutely loved!"
Beverley added: "He was so special, he had time for everybody. He showed love for all of us Geordies. He was part of Newcastle and always will be."
