It was not an ideal performance, and there could be a few changes going into this weekend’s League Cup match.
Chris Cadden could be the latest Aberdeen player to be ruled out of the Rangers clash as he picked up an injury on Wednesday night, limping down the tunnel. The right-back was taken off in the second half of the game against Falkirk, and he’s now a big doubt for Saturday.
Defender Mats Knoester is also expected to be ruled out as he has gone to see a specialist for his tendon injury. Former Rangers defender Lewis Mayo will certainly miss the weekend’s match due to a stress fracture in his foot. He will be ruled out for two months.
Tony Yogane was among a few players who suffered a virus and was absent from the matchday squad on Wednesday. It is unclear if he will be back in action for the semi-final.
Midfielder Connor Ronan is surely going to miss the match as he’s a long-term injury absentee for the Dons.
McInnes will have seen what Badredine Bouanani did off the bench on Wednesday, and there’s a good chance that he starts on Saturday. There was little to no threat from the right until the Algerian came on, and he could replace either Djeidi Gassama or Minsu Kim.
The Rangers manager could also drop Emmanuel Fernandez, who was one of the worst performers against Hearts. The centre-back made numerous errors and he could make way for Ben Godfrey.
It seems likely that Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi both start, as the duo seem to have found a good understanding in the final third.
