Rob Edwards has rejected an approach from Burnley. Edwards, the former Wolves manager, was identified as a potential replacement for Nicky Hayen, who was sacked on Saturday night. However, Burnley will not pursue Edwards for the role after it became clear he is taking further time out to consider his next move following his dismissal as Wolves manager in June after seven months in charge. Edwards has an impressive record in the Championship after leading Luton to the Premier League in 2023 and departed Middlesborough last November with the club second in the table.
Carlos Corberan, the former West Brom and Valencia head coach, has also distanced himself from the Championship club. Hayen was sacked after the club’s 4-1 defeat to Lincoln left them 22nd in the Championship after 12 games following their relegation from the Premier League last season. Meanwhile, Ashley Cole, the former England and Chelsea defender, is keen on a return to management and is understood to have held exploratory talks with Bromley.
Bromley are in League One and sacked long-serving manager Andy Woodman last week following a heavy defeat by Leicester City. Woodman had been in charge for over five-and-a-half years and lifted the League Two title at the end of last season.
Cole is available after leaving Serie B club Cesena and Telegraph Sport understands that he has spoken with the Bromley hierarchy. He lives in the Cobham area, so Bromley would not be an issue in terms of location.
