After it was revealed on Friday that a "major part" of the WWE Crown Jewel broadcast will reportedly be engineered remotely, a new report indicated that commentary will also not be live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The report is the latest change surrounding the show, due to safety concerns amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
According to PWInsider Elite, the WWE commentary team is not in Riyadh with other staff and crew who traveled over to the country ahead of the event. The outlet was told that the show will be called remotely from WWE headquarters. PWIE did not report who will be on the call from Stamford, Connecticut.
PWIE was the first to report earlier on Friday that the company reduced on-site staff to produce the show. Production work, including graphics and audio mixing, will reportedly be mostly handled in Stamford. The outlet reported that camera and sound crews are live in Riyadh to transmit back to WWE headquarters for final touches before the show makes air. WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select previously reported that WWE crew members were offered hazard pay, to the tune of $3,000, to travel to Riyadh for Crown Jewel.
In yet another recent report, it was revealed in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it was the Saudi Arabian government's decision, not TKO or WWE's decision, to move Crown Jewel from its temporary outside venue to the ANB Arena, an indoor location. Dave Meltzer noted in the report that the arena can hold 6,000 fans, less than if the show were to go on elsewhere.
