Thursday saw the Chicago Bears make the blockbuster trade to acquire defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans.
The Bears have given away their first-round picks for the next two years to secure the services of Simmons in what has proven to be one of the biggest trades of the season. Simmons has already flown to Chicago ahead of Monday’s game in Seattle against the Seahawks.
Caleb Williams has returned from his injury scare to help the Bears in the playoff push but they will be facing a seriously tough challenge on Monday night. Simmons will certainly be viewed as a player who could help swing the odds back in Chicago’s favour.
However, ahead of the game on Monday, some previous comments from Simmons on the Bears’ quarterback have resurfaced on social media.
When Williams first entered the league, some fans criticised him for wearing nail polish. This is something that has since been brushed under the carpet, but Simmons was actually someone who called Williams out over it.
Simmons had joked on a podcast that he wanted to ‘knock the nail polish off’ Williams when the Titans faced the Bears.
“I feel like that against anybody we play against, we were joking, of course. When I was on that podcast, it was about the pain and nail, but I don’t care who I’m playing. It can be my best friend. When we step on the field, you’re my enemy,” he later told the media.

“I’m going to welcome KB back to playing for the Tennessee Titans. Same thing: I have that mindset to win no matter who it is. That was a joke on the podcast, but I mean it. My goal is to win, especially if I could get some one-on-ones in that game. My goal is to help my team get a win in this game.”
The opening game of the 2024 season for the Titans and the Bears saw Chicago secure the victory. Williams was sacked twice, but he did manage to avoid Simmons throughout the game.
Now, the pair have become teammates and Simmons will naturally put all of the jokes behind him as he prepares for a huge game in the Pacific Northwest on Monday night.
