Moretto: Krösche ‘continues to push’ to bring Hardung with him to Milan – the situation

Matteo Moretto has confirmed that Markus Krösche will look to try and bring Timmo Hardung with him to AC Milan.

In the past few days, there have been reports from a number of sources claiming that Gerry Cardinale is finally going to get the man that he has wanted for a few months. Krösche – who left Eintracht Frankfurt last month – has an agreement in place to come in and lead the management.

The issue of the compensation to be paid to Eintracht seems to have been resolved, so now the main question concerns whether someone will come in to help him as a sporting director, another position vacant in the current set-up.

Krösche done, Hardung next?

In a video on their YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto gave some updates on the plans for Milan moving forward, including the restructuring of the management. MilanNews relayed the words of the latter.

“The Krosche deal has been a rollercoaster ride. AC Milan had practically already finalised the deal before the summer window. It was also a question of timing and also of finances, as Eintracht Frankfurt were asking for much higher compensation than what Milan has paid so far, or will soon pay,” he said.

“Anyway, here we go: Marcus Krösche will be Milan’s new Head of Football. Milan will pay compensation of between €3-4m. Official confirmation, as far as I know, will arrive in early January. However, it’s clear that Krosche will already begin working behind the scenes for AC Milan in the coming months, and then he will officially be the new Rossoneri director from January.

“Krösche fits into an organisational and sporting structure that Cardinale had already thought of once he had restructured Milan from scratch. There are other figures within the Milan structure, such as Bobby Gardiner, Almstadt, who from what I understand will remain, but it is clear that Krosche’s figure will be predominant and on a sporting level he will be the one with the most power.

“From what I understand, Krösche continues to push to try to bring in a sporting director who can add to the organisational chart and the name that continues to buzz in Krösche’s head is certainly that of his right-hand man Timmo Hardung, who is the current sporting director of Eintracht. However, it is still to be seen whether Timo Hardung will remain at Eintracht 100%.

“It is true that Eintracht are trying to give him as much power as possible, but I do not rule out Hardung’s exit starting from January or February. Milan remain on the lookout, other German clubs such as Nürnberg, Hannover or Hamburg are also interested in Hardung. Milan wants try inserting another figure, maybe a little further forward.”
