Given how long they've been around the game of football, Jason and Travis Kelce have seen about everything the game has to offer. However, a wild play from a New York high school football game had the two brothers in awe.
On their podcast, “New Heights,” the Kelce brothers watched the crazy last-second game-winning touchdown scored by Whitesboro (NY) in a 31-30 win over Carthage on Friday, Oct. 30.
While the two Super Bowl champions have seen or done their own fair share of crazy plays, the Whitesboro play was unlike anything either had seen before.
"Oh I saw this. This is actually nasty," Travis Kelce says as the clip begins. "You're dead...but you're alive!" That's just a heads up play.
“...a lot of guys at the end of games just won't throw it back. Like he would've tried to stay on his feet, but he said I'm giving my team a chance."
Down five with only a few seconds remaining, Whitesboro quarterback Frank Zupancic fired a shot down the field to Connor McDonald who was hit hard mid-air. The ball popped up and found the arms Landon Pearsall before it hit the ground.
Pearsall's momentum was stopped short and tossed the ball back to McDonald who had gotten up from the initial hit. Catching the pitch, McDonald bolted right and scored the improbable game-winning touchdown to keep the Warriors' postseason hopes alive.
The play is considered by many to be the play of the year this season and was recently voted as the USA TODAY Sports Play of the Week.
"The guy that dies, right, is the one that gets up," Travis continues on. "You gotta love... God, I love high school football, man.
