Waldo Cortes-Acosta is not a fan of Josh Hokit and hopes he’ll get a chance to knock his teeth out with a win this weekend at UFC Vegas 124.

Tomorrow is a big opportunity for Cortes-Acosta to end a disappointing two-fight losing streak and return to the heavyweight win column. The Cuban contender will have a good chance at doing just that as he squares off with former light heavyweight Johnny Walker in the main event. Walker is dangerous, but he’s been finished by lesser foe than Cortes-Acosta before.

If Cortes-Acosta is able to halt Walker’s heavyweight ascension he’ll put himself back in a good spot heading into 2027. It’s a promising outlook for Cortes-Acosta, who went on a three-fight knockout win streak prior to his recent losing skid. That’s because the heavyweight division is now moving forward with a planned title fight between Hokit and current UFC champion Ciryl Gane next weekend at UFC 334, creating future opportunities for contenders like Cortes-Acosta.

“I’m excited for the division because they’re still moving everything, the title is moving now,” Cortes-Acosta told MMA Fighting. “I see the new blood coming for the title.

“Josh Hokit is a personality in there, but it’s still moving the heavyweight division right now, [everybody] knows. I can expect good things for the heavyweight division [over] the months, coming in on the new year, too.”

If Cortes-Acosta had it his way he’d get a chance to shut Hokit up himself. Hokit has showcased exciting skills inside of the Octagon en route to a 4-0 UFC record and his first-ever UFC title shot, but he’s been a trash-talking machine every step of the way. Cortes-Acosta is hoping he’ll one day land a matchup with Hokit and play the role of spoiler, which includes knocking all of the former NFL player’s teeth out.

“I’m no fan of him,” said Cortes-Acosta of Hokit. “I’m the person, I want one day, meeting him or being in the ring and take it out—whole teeth, whole mouth, the whole f—king dirty mouth he has.”
