Roy Keane Takes Swipe at Rod Stewart

Roy Keane has clearly welcomed the news that Rod Stewart has decided to retire from touring.

Stewart, a well-known Celtic fan, announced The Final Encore, a 2027 tour which will be his last. He is not retiring from making music altogether, just live performances. Keane has weighed in on the news in his typical fashion.

The former Celtic midfielder appeared on The Overlap alongside Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Jill Scott, with a clip shared on TikTok of Keane talking about Stewart’s announcement.

“What good news that is! Wow”, Keane said.

“Should have done it 20 years ago!

“I heard on the radio he’s stopped touring. I’m like in the car screaming ‘yessss, wow’. Now he can go to more Celtic games.”

Scott then asked how old Stewart was, to which Keane replied:

He joked: “Aw I’m going to say 100, 112.”

Neville then confirmed that he’s 81.

Keane also referenced Stewart’s previous cancelled gigs.

“And he’s announced his retirement from touring. He did cancel about 60 gigs in the last two years, you know, when he wasn’t feeling well, you know what I mean?

“And then the next night he’s at a Scotland match, you know what I mean. Forget the people who travelled thousands of miles.”

The Irishman clearly isn’t a fan of the musician, who is a controversial figure amongst many Celtic fans due to his political beliefs.

It’s safe to say Keane won’t be in attendance for The Final Encore next year.
