England will be without Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly for the Nations League clash against Croatia due to suspension. England host Slaven Bilic’s side at Wembley Stadium on Thursday, November 12, (7.45pm kick-off).

On Friday, Thomas Tuchel named his squad for that game and the clash against Spain three days later. Lewis-Skelly has been included in the 25-man list, but will not be available against Croatia.

That’s due to the midfielder serving a one-match ban for picking up a second yellow card in the group stage in the last international break. Lewis-Skelly was cautioned in both the home and away clashes against Czechia, games which England won 2-0 and 3-0.

The 20-year-old was a regular in Tuchel’s starting XI for the last international break, starting three of the four games. It means that the England boss will face something of a dilemma as he is forced to change his midfield for Thursday’s match.

The return of Declan Rice from injury could see him simply slot back into midfield alongside Jude Bellingham and Elliot Anderson. Another option could be to give Jobe Bellingham his debut.

The Borussia Dortmund man could play alongside his brother, having received his first call-up to the England squad. Josh King, who has also been given his first call-up, and Eberechi Eze and James Garner are other midfielders included in the squad.

Lewis-Skelly has been a key player for Arsenal this season, despite being linked with an exit from the club in the summer. He has made 11 appearances in all competitions, mostly as a defensive midfielder, but is also able to play at left-back.

The midfielder will be available again for the clash against Spain after serving the one-match suspension. But there could be other players at risk of missing the match.

Jude Bellingham and Marc Guehi both picked up cautions during the first four games of the league phase. This means that they will miss the clash against Spain if they are booked against Croatia on Thursday.

England go into the final two games in second place in Group C, three points behind Spain. They do, however, have a better goal difference than their rivals, meaning that the match in Madrid could be crucial in determining who will finish top of the group.

The Three Lions came out on the end of a 3-2 defeat against the World Champions in the first fixture at Wembley back in September. Lamine Yamal gave Spain the lead after two minutes, before Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane scored to make it 2-1 to England.

Kane then missed a penalty to make it 3-1. It was a moment that ultimately proved to be crucial, with Alex Baena and Mikel Oyarzabal turning the game around in the second half.
