Michigan guard Roddy Gayle Jr. was cleared to play his fifth season of college basketball on Thursday.
"The depth got a boost," coach Mike Boynton said Thursday.
Gayle was one of several players who joined lawsuits after the NCAA changed its eligibility rules.
Gayle is averaging 8.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in his college career.
The Wolverines enter the season ranked No. 16 in the country.
