He may be 47, but Daniel Cormier can still go.

The former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion is widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers to have transitioned to mixed martial arts.

En route to achieving two-division glory in the sport’s leading promotion, Cormier beat the likes of Stipe Miocic, Anthony Johnson, Dan Henderson, Alexander Gustafsson, and Frank Mir.

It’s been over six years since Cormier hung up his MMA gloves, but that does not mean the American has lost the skill that paved the way for his monumental success inside the cage.

Are there any current UFC heavyweights Daniel Cormier would still be able to beat in 2026? 🤔

Some new wrestling footage has proved that 'DC' has still got it 🤼

Daniel Cormier backed to beat current UFC heavyweights after fans see his latest wrestling training

Cormier retired after losing to Miocic for the second time in August 2020. Since then, he has maintained a strong presence in MMA as a UFC color commentator and via content on his YouTube channel.

But ‘DC’ is also working with the next generation of wrestling stars behind the scenes while ensuring that his own skills on the mat don’t get too rusty.

Recent training footage showed that Cormier has still got it, so much so that many fans on social media were suggesting he would still be able to hang around high up the heavyweight ladder in the UFC.

“Honestly give him 6 months and he could be HW champ again lol.”

“I swear for how big and how old he is he still moves so smooth, maybe not as fast as he used to but would still probably give everyone in light heavyweight and heavyweight a run for their money.”

“DC vs Gane would be hilarious because DC would just maul him.”

“Still a top 5 heavyweight.”

“DC been retired for years and his double leg still looks better than half the UFC roster.”

“He’s still got it.”

“You can tell a couple months of training he wouldn’t be ranked at HW right now.”

Others were more realistic with their reactions and suggested Cormier consider a return to competition in Real American Freestyle.

A number of retired MMA veterans have competed on the mat in the surging wrestling organization, so perhaps ‘DC’ will consider joining them as he continues to showcase his skills in the gym.
