Injuries continue to pile up on the offensive side of the ball for the Texas Longhorns, who are set for one of their toughest tests of the year on Saturday against the No. 18 ranked Missouri Tigers.
Texas's rushing attack has been an obvious week point thus far this season, a weakness that didn't get any better following the season-ending injury to star left tackle Trevor Goosby earlier this year.
On Thursday, the Texas ground game took another massive blow in regards to running back Hollywood Smothers, who suffered a knee injury during their Week 9 win over Mississippi State.
According to Pete Nakos of On Sports, Smothers will miss the rest of the 2026 college football season due to his knee injury.
After rushing for over 900 yards with NC State a year ago, Smothers was expected to be a true difference maker for Texas. But unfortunately, injuries have limited his productivity, missing multiples games with a shoulder ailment earlier in the year.
Without Smothers, Goosby, and starting tight end Nick Townsend, who was also recently ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, the inconsistent Longhorns offense could certainly go through some struggles down the stretch of this season.
At the very least, even more pressure will be on Arch Manning and the Texas passing game on Saturday, who face off against a Missouri defense that allows the fifth-fewest points per game in the SEC this season.
Saturday's Texas-Missouri game will kick off at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday from Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri and can be seen on ESPN.
