Good news Tottenham! Juventus are convinced about Guglielmo Vicario and will be signing him on a permanent basis.
Yep, just a few months into his loan deal in Turin, the 30-year-old has convinced everyone at Juventus that he’s worth spending money on.
The Italian goalkeeper joined Juventus on loan in the summer. He had made it clear that he wanted to leave Tottenham after three years at the club.
It’s fair to say that things didn’t really work out at Spurs for him. He was signed for €18.5m in 2023 but, never truly established himself as the number one that they were looking for. By the time this summer rolled around, everyone was ready to part ways.
He was not first choice for Juventus, though. Far from it. The Italian side spent most of the summer going through an exhaustive list of experienced keepers – including Liverpool’s Alisson – before eventually settling on the Tottenham man on loan.
Tuttosport’s print edition now reports that it’s worked out in their favour. They state that the Tottenham goalkeeper has ‘won over the Bianconeri management’.
Their information is that Juventus’ managers are ‘increasingly planning’ to exercise the purchase option that they have on the goalkeeper.

That’s in the region of €8m, excluding bonuses. It’s a price that the Italian giants will now be happy to play, particularly as the other goalkeeper options in the squad are set to leave on free transfers next summer.
Vicario will become ‘the sole constant’. The plan is for him to be the designated starter and the mentor for the future. The 30-year-old can take on the responsibility of guiding the next generation while holding down the number one spot.
The terms signed between Juventus and Tottenham last summer were published by the Italian club.
“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur FC for the temporary, free-of-charge acquisition of the sporting rights of the player Guglielmo Vicario, effective until June 30, 2027.”
“The agreement also grants Juventus the option to acquire the player’s sporting rights on a permanent basis.
“The agreed-upon fee for a potential permanent acquisition is €8 million. This amount may increase, over the course of the player’s sporting contract, by up to an additional €2 million, contingent upon the achievement of specific objectives.”

Scope: Recorded men’s senior and academy loans active at any point between 3 November 2021 and 3 November 2026. Includes loans already running at the start of the period. Repeat spells are grouped by player. Important distinction: A later permanent transfer does not automatically mean a purchase option was exercised. “No exercise confirmed” means no publicly verified activation was found; it does not prove that no clause existed. Current conditional obligations are marked pending. Work-experience placements are excluded. Vušković’s earlier Westerlo spell is excluded because it preceded his registration as a Tottenham player. Loan destinations checked against Tottenham announcements and season transfer records. |
