Tony Cascarino explains what he thinks will happen to Nottingham Forest, delivers Marinakis verdict

Nottingham Forest are showing positive signs under Oliver Glasner even if the points tally isn’t reflecting that at the moment.

Glasner watched on as his Forest side had to settle for a 1-1 draw in a game where they were totally dominant on Friday night, with the Reds scoring through Neco Williams and conceding when Julio Enciso made the most of a Nikola Milenkovic mistake.

Forest have just six points so far this season and are inside the relegation zone in the Premier League. The Reds have Brentford and Manchester City to play next, and it’s hard to establish where the next win is coming from.

However, pundits have been encouraged by Glasner’s team so far this season. Tony Cascarino is now the latest to jump on the bandwagon, with the pundit praising Forest for their efforts against Ipswich.

The Forest owner did give time to Steve Cooper and Nuno Espirito Santo but last season saw four managers oversee things at Forest and that just won’t do.

With Glasner, his style of play will take time to get right, and the onus is now on the owner to stick with the man he’s hired and trust him to get things right eventually.

Cascarino thinks that although Ipswich have started the season well, Forest should be above them by the end of the campaign, and he’s seen enough to suggest that under Glasner they will be just fine.

The former Chelsea striker said on TalkSPORT: “It was a better point for Ipswich; they were second best for most of the game.

“Forest are looking as though things will pick up, managers will always say they’re doing the right things and stuff like that but that was on display last night. Great goal, by the way. Really good finish from Neco Williams, he made it look really easy and that’s not a simple finish. He’s still got to keep himself calm and collected. They had loads of chances.

“They were fortunate not to have a player sent off were Ipswich. It’s definitely in that region where most people have an opinion.

“By the end of the season I think Forest will be above Ipswich in the league. I’d like to think, it will be hard, but he will know that Glasner needs time. They’re on the right road. Daniel Munoz is causing problems, he’s playing exactly the same role. I think they’re going to pick up points, and I think they’re a bit unfortunate not to have a few more.”

Forest are going to spend another week in the bottom three and desperately need a win from somewhere. Losing to Brentford and City before the international break doesn’t bear thinking about for Glasner, and wins are now badly needed.

Marinakis has to stand firm though. With another international break on the horizon, there is more time to work on things in training and hopefully around Christmas, Forest can be much higher in the Premier League table.
