McInnes, now Rangers boss, had previously spoken about the "injustice" of losing out to Celtic.
He claimed refereeing decisions had influenced the final weeks of the campaign.
However, McGeady, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, dismissed these claims.
He said: "The injustice has been mentioned a few times. What was the injustice? Was it a few contentious decisions, as he said?
"But at the end of the day, it was in your hands and you blew it.
"All you had to do was draw the last game of the season. Couldn't do it."
McInnes had reflected on his time at Tynecastle and expressed guilt over leaving Hearts while they were still reeling from the last-day title loss.
He had also raised issues with refereeing decisions during the campaign.
However, McGeady suggested that these were merely excuses for the team's inability to secure the championship from a leading position.
He said: "So I can understand why you're going to put it down to, 'It's not my fault, it's not the team's fault, it's referees.'
"But, yeah, for me, that's you glossing over that."
