Meole Brace Golf Course upgraded with bunker renovations

Shropshire Council has delivered major improvements at Meole Brace Golf Course in Shrewsbury after taking over maintenance in June.

Sarah Marston, cabinet member for communities and environment at Shropshire Council, said: "Shropshire Council brought the grounds maintenance contract in-house on 1 June and since then a great deal of hard work has gone into improving the course and enhancing the playing experience for golfers of all abilities.

"To support these improvements, our grounds maintenance team has welcomed additional staff who are working tirelessly to maintain the course to a high standard and continue the programme of enhancements.

"Their dedication is already making a noticeable difference, with many golfers commenting on the improved course conditions, presentation, and overall playing experience."

Renovation of 26 bunkers and replacement of the 1st green, which has now reopened following vandalism, are among the key upgrades.

An autumn programme has also included extensive reseeding, improvements to the contouring of fairways and approaches, and ongoing turf management.

The council has encouraged both new and returning golfers to visit and experience the upgraded course.
