Seahawks should consider trading for Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.

The Seattle Seahawks have good reason to explore trading for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline.

Thomas has the potential to cement himself as a legitimate No. 1 receiver in the league, based off of what he’s shown in years prior, making him an intriguing buy-low candidate for a Seattle offense seeking more consistent production from its supporting cast.

Through six games played this season, three of which he has started, Thomas has recorded nine receptions on 20 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown, averaging 11.7 yards per catch. He has also recorded a fumble. Those numbers fall well short of his standout rookie season, when he finished with 1,282 receiving yards and 10 REC touchdowns.

Seattle stands to gain much from having another potential WR1 operating as a WR2 alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba. With Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed and AJ Barner off to slow starts to the year, Thomas may provide another explosive downfield threat while preventing opposing defenses from focusing primarily on Smith-Njigba.

To facilitate a deal, Seattle ought to consider offering a combination of Shaheed, Barner, a defensive star or draft picks. A reasonable package may help Seattle strengthen its receiving corps to take pressure off of its offensive centerpiece JSN.

After making a blockbuster trade for six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, the Seahawks have already shown that they are leading with an aggressive mindset to vie for another Super Bowl this year. Thomas may be another high-level talent for the team to acquire to ascend to favorite status in the league.
