Tottenham transfer decision could cost club £60m after Man Utd scouting mission
Manchester United have been credited with a transfer interest in a former Tottenham striker

Troy Parrott could be set for a return to the Premier League with transfer interest emerging from one of Tottenham's domestic rivals

Former Tottenham striker Troy Parrott is reportedly at the centre of a Manchester United transfer mission just two months after joining Real Betis. The La Liga club signed him permanently for £17million from AZ Alkmaar, who Spurs sold their academy graduate to in 2024 for just £6.7m.

An impressive return of 51 goals in 97 outings across all competitions for the Dutch outfit prompted the interest from Betis. A strong start to life in Spain, alongside goals for Ireland during the international break, has seemingly alerted United and others.

According to Fichero, Parrott's displays have 'sparked serious interest' from England's top division, with United particularly keen on securing his services.

The report claims the Red Devils are hunting for a promising No.9 capable of delivering an instant impact, having opted against recruiting a new striker during the summer window. This is where Parrott would enter the equation with his 'link-up play, physical strength, and clinical finishing'.

He has a contract running until 2031 and a release clause valued at £67.5million, a sum that could deter potential buyers, including United. However, if that fee was to be met by any interested party, Tottenham would have lost out on up to £60million having sold him for such a small fee two years ago.

While it is possible Tottenham could have lost out on that amount, they could actually part ways with it if Parrott returns to his boyhood club with Roberto De Zerbi looking to bolster his attacking options.

United are monitoring his development closely and have dispatched scouts to observe him in action for Betis in both La Liga and the Champions League. Manuel Pellegrini's outfit have been in exceptional form so far this campaign, collecting 19 points from a possible 24 domestically and six from six in Europe's premier club competition.

A potential long-term injury to Benjamin Sesko could be the reason for rumoured interest in the 24-year-old. The Lilywhites meanwhile, have Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush in their ranks with Richarlison exiled from the squad.

The Brazilian made his first competitive appearance earlier this week as he started the under-21s Jersey Mike's Trophy clash at Cheltenham Town. He scored in that 2-2 draw and has since posted on social media, hinting at a bust-up with De Zerbi.

During the club's relegation battle last season, Richarlison stepped up with some important goals but Solanke has got the nod in this campaign.

He grabbed a late equaliser against Manchester United last weekend with Spurs still winless despite an impressive display at Old Trafford. De Zerbi's side face newly-promoted Coventry City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday evening.
