Benn last fought in September and was knocked out by Ryan Garcia, two months after McGregor injured himself in the first minute of his latest bout
Conor Benn has called for a fight with Conor McGregor, claiming he would face the UFC star “any day of the week”.
Benn last fought in September, suffering a second-round knockout by Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, and he is now on the search for his next opponent.
The Briton’s second career loss came in the same city where McGregor sustained a knee injury in July, as his first fight in five years ended just after the one-minute mark.
The Irishman is still recovering from that injury, which occurred in a long-awaited rematch with fellow icon Max Holloway, and he has one fight left on his UFC contract.
Yet McGregor, 38, has consistently teased a return to boxing since his sole outing in the sport – a 2017 stoppage by Floyd Mayweather – and Benn appears willing to capitalise.
“Any day of the week,” the 30-year-old wrote on Instagram, while sharing a mock-up poster featuring himself and McGregor.
While the general feeling is that McGregor would have to fight out his UFC contract in order to box, Benn is signed to Zuffa Boxing, which is headed up by UFC president Dana White and owned by TKO, the UFC’s parent company.
Some fans have thus speculated that White could allow McGregor to box before his UFC deal is up, as long as McGregor does so under the Zuffa banner. Alternatively, it is possible that McGregor could box with Zuffa as soon as he has fought out his UFC contract.
Benn signed with the controversial new boxing promotion in February, leaving his longtime promoter Eddie Hearn in an unexpected move that heightened tensions between Hearn and White. The welterweight joined Zuffa a one-fight deal, which was worth a reported $15m, before extending that contract to challenge Garcia for the WBC belt.

McGregor, a former two-weight UFC champion, is expected to be out of action until next summer due to his knee issue. He sustained the injury – a torn ACL and meniscus – by attempting a running, jumping kick against Holloway.
The bout was McGregor’s first since 2021, when he suffered a broken leg in the first round of a loss to Dustin Poirier.
McGregor has had numerous run-ins with the law in recent years, and in 2024, a civil jury found him liable for sexual assault in 2018. McGregor denied all allegations against him, but his appeal against the verdict failed in 2025.
