Luka Vuskovic has spoken candidly about his exit from Tottenham Hotspur, expressing gratitude for his development in North London while admitting he remains unsure why the club chose to move him on.

Croatian defensive prospect Luka Vuskovic has offered a balanced and candid perspective on his departure from Tottenham Hotspur following his move to Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. In comments reported by Hotspur Lane on X, the highly rated center-back dismissed suggestions that he harbored any desire to “prove a point” to his former club, choosing instead to emphasize the role Spurs played during his developmental years.

Vuskovic arrived in North London as one of Europe’s most coveted teenage defenders, undergoing structured loan spells designed to refine his game for elite English football. While his path ultimately led away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the youngster retains significant appreciation for the foundation laid during his time under Spurs’ supervision.

Appreciating Tottenham’s Role in Early Career Growth

Addressing questions regarding his time with Tottenham, Vuskovic made it clear that he harbors no resentment toward the club’s decision-makers. Instead, he focused on the support provided to him during a crucial transitional period in his professional career.

“I wouldn’t look at it like that. Tottenham really helped me when I was a teenager. For two years I’ve been with them and the loans and they helped me a lot. I’m really grateful to them. I’m in Brighton now and I feel great. It’s an unbelievable club who believe in me.”

The defender’s acknowledgment highlights the constructive role loan spells play in shaping young talents, even when their ultimate first-team breakthrough occurs at another institution.

While expressively grateful for his time in North London, Vuskovic admitted that the exact reasoning behind Tottenham’s willingness to let him depart remains somewhat unclear to him. However, the opportunity to join Brighton, a club renowned across world football for developing top-tier youth talent, proved too compelling to pass up.

“In the end, I don’t know why Tottenham didn’t want me. But Brighton believed in me. Also, a few years back I knew they wanted to sign me. I’m really happy with my choice. It’s really an amazing club with young talent.”

With Brighton providing an ideal ecosystem for emerging talents to thrive at the highest level, Vuskovic is now focused entirely on establishing himself on the South Coast. Meanwhile, Tottenham supporters will undoubtedly keep an interested eye on his continued development in the Premier League, recognizing the immense potential the Croatian powerhouse possesses.
