Arsenal serious about move for winger – Trying to bring €70m asking price down

Arsenal are increasingly serious about a move for Antonio Nusa, identifying the Leipzig forward as a concrete target. In fact, they are confident they can take him to the Emirates.

Nusa, now 21-years-old, is currently impressing for Leipzig this season. He’s currently on three goals and five assists in seven Bundesliga games. His record is four goals and six assists in 12 games in all competitions.

He is already well on course to bettering last season’s total of five goals and four assists in 35 games in all competitions. Indeed, he is well on course for his best goalscoring season to date.

And that, it seems, has earned him growing attention from the Premier League. Arsenal in particular are keen.

Serious

Tuttomercatoweb report that they are ‘serious’ about signing Nusa. The Premier League champions have identified the Leipzig forwards as a concrete target to bolster their forward options. And they are confident they can bring him to London.

Negotiations are still in the early stages. There is a significant gap between Leipzig’s demands and the Gunners current offer. Nusa is currently valued at €45m by Transfermarkt but Leipzig’s demands are far higher than that.

They want €70m to part with the winger. He cost them €21m to sign from Club Brugge two years ago. They currently appear unwilling to offer any discounts on that €70 figure.

Arsenal have made inquiries in recent weeks. Their intention is to keep the price below €55m. Thus, there is a substantial difference between the two clubs are this moment in time.

But there is a belief that their pursuit is ‘gaining momentum’. Whether they are prepared to increase their bid remains to be seen.

Left-wing issues

The left-wing is a problem one for Arsenal at this moment in time. Summer signing Christos Tzolis is the only left-winger in Arteta’s squad, but he is currently out injured.

That has left Mikel Arteta looking for alternative options. Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke have both deputised in the position in recent weeks.

That’s left Arsenal, particularly their fans, with a growing belief that signings are needed to bolster Arteta’s options. And Nusa appears to be the man that they’re looking at.

They could, perhaps, have an ace up their sleeve in Martin Odegaard. He captains Nusa for Norway and could help at least convincing the youngster into the move, should he need it. Right now, it seems Arsenal need to convince Leipzig to sell for a price they want to pay.
