A Stratford teenager is preparing to take on the world after being selected to represent Canada at the inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup.
Hayden Renardson, who plays in midfield for Aston Villa's academy and attends Chipping Campden School, has travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, for the tournament, which runs until October 30.
He made his tournament debut against Guinea on Saturday as Canada suffered a 2-1 defeat.
Canada face Guatemala and Singapore on Sunday before taking on Honduras and American Samoa on Monday.
The 15-year-old’s selection follows Renardson’s first taste of international football in August, when he travelled to Santiago for two friendly matches against Chile.
His performances in those games helped him earn a place in the Canada World Cup squad.
Hayden holds both English and Canadian passports, making him eligible to represent either country.
His father, Adam, said: "We are so proud of Hayden. Playing against different styles and alongside such a diverse mix of talent is a great experience, and learning to blend into a new team will help his growth.
“We're lucky to have such good people supporting him, but to see him stay grounded and keep learning every time is a credit to him."
