The Chicago Bears scored a 30-24 win over the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football this week, and it wouldn't have been possible without an incredible effort from Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
After returning to action for the Bears last week in a win over the Falcons, Williams looked as healthy as ever in Thursday night's clash with New England, going 22-of-33for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Not only was that a strong enough performance to help lead his team to a crucial victory, but it also let him etch his name into franchise history.
Williams threw for 305 yards in the Week 6 win against Atlanta before his 308-yard performance against New England. That snapped an eight-year drought of consecutive 300-yard game for Bears quarterbacks – with the last Chicago signal caller to achieve the feat being Mitchell Trubisky in 2018.
With back-to-back 300-yard games, both victories, he became just the third quarterback in Bears history to reach that milestone and the first Chicago quarterback to do so in 64 years, joining Sid Luckman in 1947 and Billy Wade in 1962.
The Bears are now 5-2 and in prime position to take second place in the NFC North after this week if the Lions defeat the Packers on Sunday. With Williams as the starter this season, the Bears are now 3-1.
