Report grades from the Browns' Week 7 win over the Titans

The Cleveland Browns hit the road in Week 7 to face a Tennessee Titans team with a chip on their shoulder. The Titans came out ready to punch the Browns in the proverbial mouth, and they did so. The only problem was the Browns didn't hear a bell and came back with some counters of their own on their way to another win.

Defensively, this was easily the worst performance of the year, even including the Week 1 beatdown from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tony Pollard ran all over them, Cam Ward looked brilliant at times, and the receivers were able to make plays. But on the flip side, the Browns' offense played their best game of the season in terms of yards and tied their highest point total for the year.

Heading into Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they have some momentum now and will need it. Before we jump ahead, though, let's reflect with some report card grades on the various units.

Quarterback: C+

Deshaun Watson led another game-winning drive with less than a minute left. Watson played well all game, but the turnover hurt, and the lack of him making plays versus his skill players bailing him out continues to be my biggest complaint with him. Yes, he has five fourth-quarter winning drives, but he needs to win some games in the first three quarters eventually.

Running Backs: A

Quinshon Judkins was back and made his presence known in a big way. He scored two touchdowns and showcased he can be a lead back for this team, in a rotation. Speaking of rotation, the Browns also got Dylan Sampson back and he was a shot in the arm for making electric plays out of the backfield.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends: A

KC Concepcion was a monster today with eight catches for 129 receiving yards in Week 7. He was joined by Harold Fannin Jr., who also had a big game and set up the game-winning field goal with a 36-yard gain. Altogether, this unit was great today and did a heck of a job helping create something out of nothing at times.

Offensive Line: A

This may have been the best performance of the year from the offensive line in terms of protection and getting pushback to establish running lanes. Tytus Howard's injury will have to be monitored, but overall this unit is really finding itself as the season rolls on.

Defensive Line: C+

It was a quiet week for the defense for the first time all year. They had just one sack and four QB hits in the game after being closer to five sacks and double-digit hits all season long. Cam Ward did well behind his offensive line, but the defense needs to be able to overcome those things to help win games.

Linebackers: D

The Titans' run game was dominant against the Browns' linebackers and defense overall in Week 7. This team just contained Derrick Henry the week prior, so containing Tony Pollard should've been easier, right? Either way, they now have to focus on Jaylen Warren next week because if they can't, then they will lose their first-place spot.

Secondary: B

Denzel Ward did a lot of heavy lifting for this unit because otherwise the grade would be much worse. Cam Ward had a bigger day than many expected, and going forward, they need to be able to showcase themselves in games like these.
