Cameron Carr won't play in the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors due to a right oblique strain, the team announced.
Carr appeared in the Lakers' first two preseason games, but he missed the final three after suffering a contusion that doesn't appear serious. He has been limited on the court and didn't practice with the team on Monday and Tuesday.
In addition to Carr, the Lakers will also be without Adou Thiero (left knee effusion) against the Warriors, while Collin Sexton (right soleus strain) is questionable to play. The rest of the roster, including Walker Kessler, who previously dealt with a finger injury, is available.
Carr averaged 12 points, two steals, 1.5 rebounds and one assist while shooting 40% from 3-point range this preseason. He debuted on Oct. 5 with 19 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a win over the Sacramento Kings.
The 24th overall pick was highly touted out of Baylor, finishing with the fifth-most points in a season in program history (642). He flourished as a scorer while flashing his athleticism and leaping ability, traits that were on display against the Kings.
Carr impressed the team throughout training camp, with coach JJ Redick gushing about his potential on the court. He should get some rotation minutes once he is cleared from his early setback.
