There's something so special about a team who has been chasing the highest-level of victory for years on end finally doing it. Every single fan that has been loyal to the Brewers since the team was founded in 1970 has wanted one thing, and all of them got it last night.
If you've never been a fan of a team who has never won anything, you don't know the struggle of showing up year after year and watching your team lose. While it can be miserable to be a fan of a team that seems destined to lose everything forever, it really does build character. It teaches you to be loyal to your hometown, even when your hometown is pretty mediocre. It facilitates community, whether that is with your family or friends. If your team is bad enough to have $6 tickets throughout the entire regular season, you can have so much fun and misery all in one summer.
As someone who grew up near the Brewers, I'm happy that they won! My family would drive up there to go to Twins and Cubs games, and my sister and I would always get really excited when Bernie Brewer would slide down his slide. My parents really tried to explain to us that we shouldn't be excited when that happened, because that meant that the team we were rooting against got a point, but we couldn't help it! I love mascots who do wild stunts, and I always will.
There is also something to be said about the value of small-market teams finally winning it all. New York and LA already have so much going for them in the world of sports. They both have two MLB teams for crying out loud! They've both won so much, and the system is rigged for them because they have more money. In smaller cities without Hollywood or Broadway, sports are the most important cultural institutions they've got. When everyone in one city is united for one team, it's a beautiful thing to be a part of. If you called off work today to celebrate the Brewers long awaited victory, these World Series memes can be a part of your celebration.

I wonder if the rest of the teams will be thanking the Brewers when contract renegotiations come up. Baseball is famously the only sport without a salary cap which is how you get players like Shohei Ohtani signing a 10 year $700 million contract. Because the Brewers, a small-market team with a tiny salary budget compared to the Dodgers or the Yankees, won the World Series, the Major League Baseball Players Association might argue that a salary cap is not needed. After all, a team that didn't buy the best players in the world just won the World Series!
I do think parity in sports leagues is important. It's boring for the same team to win over and over and over again. Imagine being an NBA fan of any other team during those years when the Celtics won literally everything? No wonder the league wasn't popular until the 80s.
