Curtis Jones has drawn a clear comparison between the Liverpool and Inter Milan fanbase, as the midfielder detailed the "easy choice" he had to make in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old called time on his 16-year affiliation with the club over the summer, having joined at the age of nine and making his way to the senior team as an important part of the squad.

After breaking into the Liverpool team, Jones made over 200 appearances in red, winning the Premier League twice, as well as the Champions League, and both domestic cups, sealing the dream of every local fan growing up.

However, with this summer seeing the midfielder enter the final year of his contract, he had to make a decision on where his career was moving in the long term.

If Jones had stayed with Liverpool, there was no guarantee that he would be a regular starter. So, in response, he pushed through a move to Inter Milan, taking on a new challenge in Serie A along the way.

It's still early days for the former Reds ace in Italy, with just two starts to his name so far, as his start has been hindered by an abductor injury that has kept him out of action.

That hasn't stopped Jones from discussing the early days of his time at the San Siro so far, while he looks to kick on and make a name for himself in the league.

Speaking to DAZN, via FCInter1908, the Liverpool academy graduate was asked about his style and what he has noticed about his time at Inter so far. He said: "I know football these days is all about goals, assists, and stats like that. I might not score as many goals as others, but I do a lot of other things on the pitch that my teammates and staff notice and appreciate.

"I want to help the team and show the best version of myself. When we played Inter in the Champions League, we won the game [for Liverpool].

"But I immediately noticed the connection between the players and the fans. Liverpool and I have always had this kind of special bond with the fans, our twelfth man on the pitch. I think the same thing applies to those who love Inter. So it was an easy choice."

Jones will certainly be hoping to win over that support as the season goes on, but there may be a longer wait before he can do that, with his injury troubles still lasting a little while longer.

When the midfielder does return, he could be coming back into a team that is in top form. The Nerazzurri sit top of Serie A after seven matches played, with six wins and one draw, summing up an impressive start.

That could make it a challenge for Jones to find a way into the team immediately, but it may also create an ideal winning environment for when he does return to action.
