The match scheduled for this Sunday between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, counting towards Matchday 8 of Ligue 1, has been postponed, the Professional Football League (LFP) has confirmed.
At the request of the Paris Police Prefecture, which was concerned about the organisational arrangements for the event given that further large-scale demonstrations are expected in the French capital this weekend, the League, in agreement with the broadcaster, has agreed to reschedule the match to Monday 26 October – 24 hours later.
As was the case last season, when Olympique de Marseille and PSG – who were due to play Le Classique on Sunday evening – ended up facing each other on Monday due to heavy rain, a French league match will therefore take place alongside the Ballon d’Or ceremony. However, several nominated Parisian players – such as Ousmane Dembélé (29), Kvicha Kvaratskhelia (25), Marquinhos (32) and Nuno Mendes (24) – will still be able to attend the event, having all been ruled out through injury.
