The Philadelphia Eagles enter Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys in a must-win situation, but their situation is very different from the Cowboys'. The Cowboys are also in a must-win scenario.
The Eagles' injury woes can be compared to the 49ers' of last year. At no point could the team put the whole product on the field healthy together. Injuries have really dampened the Eagles' season, and it's only October. Then, you add Jalen Hurts being out to the mix, and it's an early recipe for disaster.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, have no excuses. The team just hasn't played very well, and that warrants the 2-4 start. The defense has been atrocious, and the offense has hit a wall over the last couple of weeks. Both division favorites now find themselves 1-7 combined since Week 2.
For the Cowboys, the injury report looks fairly clean heading into Monday, unlike the Eagles, who, as we discussed earlier, are decimated.
The NFC East is not an easy division, but the Cowboys were expected to be better on defense last season, and they have barely moved the needle. The offense has scored only 29 points in their last two games. Tonight, they will not need to light the scoreboard up to win, but with the firepower they have, it would be a refreshing sight for Cowboys fans.
The Cowboys' season can still be salvaged, but they can not have a slip up tonight against a team who will also be looking for a way to get on track.
