Round-up of the local hockey action – Saturday 17th October and Sunday 18th October.

Teams Bath Buccaneers’ senior women are still looking for their first point of the England Hockey Women’s Division One South season.

The promoted 1st XI lost for the fifth time in five matches when they were thrashed 4-0 at home by Sevenoaks 1st XI on Saturday 17th October.

The bottom-placed Buccs are the only side without a point this term. They are also the only side who have failed to score.

Kent outfit Sevenoaks took the lead through Yasmin Thomas in the 12th minute.

A Robyn Hodges penalty corner doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute.

And 11 minutes later, Sophie Maunder netted from another penalty corner.

Beatrice Jones wrapped up with the victory – Sevenoaks’ second success of the campaign – by scoring in the 63rd minute.

Team Bath have now conceded 14 goals during 2026-27 – but they do not have quite as leaky a defence as second-bottom Holcombe 1st XI do. Holcombe have let in 16 goals.

The Buccaneers’ men’s 1st XI are the undoubted draw experts in England Hockey Men’s Conference West.

Without a win this season, they drew for the fourth time in five outings when they played out a 1-1 stalemate with visitors Chichester 1st XI on Sunday 18th October.

Billy White gave the home side a 13th-minute lead, only for Alex Baxter’s goal from a penalty corner to level matters in the 42nd minute.

Team Bath lie sixth in the 10-team division.

City of Bath men’s 1st XI lost a two-goal lead in their West Hockey Men’s Division One North clash at home to Chippenham 1st XI on 17th October and had to settle for a draw.

John Jackson, from a penalty corner, and Syd Arblaster struck to leave the homesters in command after 41 minutes.

But Chippenham hit back to make it 2-2 thanks to a goal apiece from Ben Creedy (penalty corner) and Mark Laskey.

However, City of Bath remain unbeaten after three games following the step up from West Men’s Division Two East.
