AC Milan’s hunt for a new technical director continues, and Carlo Pellegatti has again put forward his preferred candidate.
One of the topics that keeps getting brought up every few days in the news cycle is how Gerry Cardinale wants to appoint a new Head of Football to lead the management and assist with the day-to-day handling of tasks, despite his own hands-on approach this year.
The most recent update from La Gazzetta dello Sport spoke of Markus Krösche and Tiago Pinto being the two leading candidates. The former was reportedly close in the summer until Eintracht Frankfurt blocked it, while the latter has done excellent work at Bournemouth, who Milan will face in Europe.
Pellegatti published his weekly column for MilanNews in which he spoke about Ruben Amorim’s stock and expressed concerns about Milan Futuro. In it, he also commented on the hunt for a new director too.
“I return to the same old, tired topic. We need a technical director immediately, someone to consult with, who would be useful to Gerry Cardinale and Ruben Amorim,” he said.
“Rumour has it that AC Milan’s owner wants to move to someone from abroad. I continue to believe this is a mistake, even if he’s a high-level executive, because waiting for him to integrate could take too long.
“With Adriano Galliani and Giovanni Carnevali’s candidacies having unfortunately fallen through, I insist that not contacting Piero Ausilio, the former Inter director who was unexpectedly removed from the Nerazzurri, would be a missed opportunity.
“I understand his and Milan’s hesitations, given his past at Inter, but time quickly erases the past if the present and future are rich in results.”
