Mason Rudolph trade partner may have emerged for Steelers after Jalen Hurts update

The Philadelphia Eagles received catastrophic injury news related to an update on Jalen Hurts' blood clots, and the Pittsburgh Steelers may be able to solve Philadelphia's quarterback woes with a trade.

After news broke that Hurts was ruled out for the season following the discovery of several blood clots in his lungs, the Steelers could emerge as a potential trade partner for the Eagles, particularly for backup quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Rudolph, who was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, spent six years in Pittsburgh before joining the Tennessee Titans in 2024 free agency. Rudolph would return to Pittsburgh the following season in 2025, where he backed up Aaron Rodgers.

Through 36 career games, Rudolph has thrown for 4,925 yards and 30 touchdowns, as well as compiled a 9-9-1 record as a starter.

The Eagles, like other quarterback-needy teams, may value Rudolph's veteran experience and versatility to play in multiple offensive systems. With Hurts sidelined, the Eagles will have to move forward with Tanner McKee, Cole Payton, and Joe Milton at quarterback. If those three aren't able to earn Philadelphia's confidence, a trade for Rudolph makes the most sense for all parties involved.
