Liverpool continued their good recent form with an impressive Premier League victory over in-form Brighton. Two goals in four first-half minutes - the opener credited as a Pascal Gross own goal after deflecting in a Florian Wirtz shot, the second an Alexander Isak strike - were sufficient to secure a 2-0 triumph on Sunday afternoon.

The result means Andoni Iraola's side have now won four games in a row in all competitions and are now up to fourth place just a point behind Brighton.

The ECHO was in attendance at Anfield and here we run the rule over the performance of the Liverpool players...

Alisson Becker 6

Almost gifted Brighton a goal with ambitious pass having previously had little to do first half, and distribution was pretty poor after that.

Ronald Araujo 8

Forceful play down the right prompted opener and produced some solid challenges as Brighton began to build pressure. Came into his own second half and defended with real zeal.

Jeremy Jacquet 7

Great composure in the blustery conditions and brought the ball out of defence at times first half. Tougher task second half dealing with Brighton forwards.

Virgil van Dijk 6

Kept matters simple with defending and aerial prowess useful dealing with balls into box, and had to help out Kerkez more frequently after break.

Milos Kerkez 6

Targeted by Brighton down the Liverpool left and asked a lot of questions defensively throughout, but didn't stop working. Subbed.

Ryan Gravenberch 6

Busy in midfield helping to shut down the passing lanes and needed to make a number of interceptions. Moved to the number 10 role for the last half-hour.

Alexis Mac Allister 8

Snapped into tackles and used the ball well, helping to move Liverpool forward. Became more of a defensive shield second half as Brighton dominated.

Bradley Barcola 7

Playing on the right, continued impressive form with lively showing and did very well to create second. Happy help out with the dirty stuff as Brighton began to take control. Subbed.

Florian Wirtz 8

Dangerous whenever in possession, found good pockets, used ball well and shot brought the first goal. Got a knock second half and subbed.

Carried ball with purpose down the left, drew save from Verbruggen first half and direct approach benefited Liverpool. Unlucky not to gain more on counter-attacks second half.

Alexander Isak 7

Tucked second goal away very well and didn’t give Brighton defenders much peace before interval but somewhat peripheral after half-time. Subbed.

Good block with first involvement and made real difference with defensive contribution.

A couple of good runs to help relieve the pressure.

Introduced to pester the Brighton rearguard, which he did so successfully.
