LeBron James' home debut for the Philadelphia 76ers left viewers with one major complaint: strange blue lighting.

The James era has begun in Philadelphia after an opening night victory. On Tuesday, the 76ers spoiled the New York Knicks' ring ceremony and banner-raising celebration by securing a 106-100 win at Madison Square Garden.

Making his debut with a new team for only the fourth time in his illustrious career, James recorded 14 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists in an impressive performance. It comes as Donald Trump slammed the 41-year-old basketball star for his pre-game behavior against the Knicks.

Yet James' first game in front of the famously passionate Philadelphia faithful didn't start smoothly. Facing his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the 76ers struggled to contain Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell as the visitors surged to a 35-18 advantage in the opening quarter.

By halftime, Cleveland commanded a 69-45 lead as James' home debut appeared to be unraveling before the crowd at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

But for viewers tuning in from home, the game proved difficult to watch as the court and broadcast featured an unusual blue tint. The cause remained unclear, whether stemming from the arena's lighting system or from cameras experiencing improper color balancing.

Fans initially directed their frustration at ESPN, implying the network was responsible for the peculiar lighting situation. One user wrote: "Is it the lighting in the 76ers arena or the ESPN broadcast that's trash? It's so muddy and blue. And before anyone comes at me about the screen......every other channel looks completely fine."

"I feel like ESPN is broadcasting this with a blue colored lens," another quipped.

Another fan posted: "Why is the Sixers game actually blue rn can you fix the broadcast?"

One fan wrote: "It's legitimately awful. Is this new arena lighting or just something wrong with the ESPN broadcast? It's so blue and washed out - and the reflections on the court are TERRIBLE. Can't be like this all season!"

Despite the widespread criticism, several users came to ESPN's partial defense, pointing out that the unusual color was actually a result of the 76ers' own stadium lighting. One wrote: "It's not ESPN, it's the actual arena trying their new blue 'theater show' light."

Another appeared to suggest ESPN should have compensated for the arena's lighting choices, writing: "I think it's the blue crowd lighting in the arena. Surprised ESPN hasn't adjusted in-camera yet."

The 76ers went on to win Thursday's game 114-106.
