Alex Nankivell could become the latest New Zealand-born player to represent Ireland after signing a new deal with Munster.
The centre has agreed a two-year extension that will keep him at the province until 2029.
He will qualify to play for Ireland in October 2028, giving him the chance to earn his first international cap.
The 29-year-old has played 58 games for Munster since joining from the Chiefs in 2023.
Munster Rugby general manager Ian Costello said: "Alex is a highly valued and respected member of the squad who has made a massive contribution both on and off the pitch since joining Munster.
"We are delighted that he has committed his future to the club and look forward to seeing him continue to develop as a player and build on his performances in a Munster jersey.
"He has ambitions to play at international level, and we hope to see him realise that potential in the near future."
Born in New Zealand, Nankivell began his career with Tasman in 2015. He made his debut against Waikato before joining the Chiefs in 2017.
He soon became a key player for both sides. He helped Tasman win back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2020.
His strong form earned him a call-up to the Māori All Blacks. He made his debut against Fiji in 2019.
Nankivell also impressed with the Chiefs. He played 12 games in 2021 as they reached the Super Rugby Aotearoa final.
After playing more than 50 games for both Tasman and the Chiefs, he made the move to Ireland in 2023.
He joined Munster on a two-year deal ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The centre made his debut off the bench against the Sharks before earning his first start against Benetton.
Should he be selected for Ireland once eligible, Nankivell could follow in the footsteps of several New Zealand-born players who have represented the country in recent years, including Bundee Aki, James Lowe and Jamison Gibson-Park.
