Sandro will be well aware of the fierce rivalry between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
Sandro played for Tottenham for four years, competing in some fiery London derbies against Chelsea. There could be another one of those when Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday to face Xabi Alonso’s side.
Despite the hatred between the clubs, that did not stop players from the two London outfits from hanging out with each other during Sandro’s days, according to the player himself.
Sandro watched Chelsea’s upcoming opponents defeat Coventry City on Sky Sports Monday Night Football. After the game, he discussed his time at Tottenham.
The former midfielder admitted that he and Heurelho Gomes would meet with Chelsea’s Brazilians, David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires. It is not the kind of thing Sandro thinks still happens, which will please both Chelsea and Tottenham supporters!
Sandro will now be hoping to see Spurs beat Chelsea at the weekend, but that is going to be an extremely difficult task. Despite beating Coventry, Roberto De Zerbi’s men have made a poor start to the season and have a very bad recent record against Chelsea.
Since returning from the international break, Chelsea have found some form as well. Defensively, Chelsea were excellent against Everton.
It means Tottenham will now face a Chelsea side who can attack but also defend if their last two games are anything to go by.
On the Monday Night Football, Sandro also named his all-time XI of Brazilian footballers who have played in the Premier League. The 37-year-old included three ex-Chelsea stars.
Luiz, Thiago Silva and Willian all made his team. In the No.9 position, Sandro went with Gabriel Jesus.
But with the trajectory that Joao Pedro is on, in the future, perhaps most would go with him in the centre-forward role. Pedro did not have the greatest game against Everton over the weekend, but he is having a bright campaign overall.
