The Houston Texans have bounced back with back-to-back wins, improving to 2-4 this season. However, they still have areas to address if they hope to establish themselves as a legitimate playoff contender.

Through the first six games, the Texans’ running back room has struggled to consistently produce, making the possibility of adding an elite ball carrier an interesting option ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline. With that in mind, two-time Super Bowl champion Damien Woody has identified a Super Bowl champion as a potential solution to Houston’s rushing concerns.

Damien Woody’s Proposal Divides Houston Fans

With the NFL trade deadline approaching, questions are being asked over whether the Philadelphia Eagles should tear it down to the studs, given the list of issues facing the franchise.

Jalen Hurts is out (probably for the season), DeVonta Smith could miss some time after being ruled out of Week 7, and with a challenging run against divisional rivals up ahead, the season could go sideways in the blink of an eye.

The Eagles, then, could have a decision to make on Saquon Barkley’s future if they’re entertaining a fire sale.

Woody believes the Houston Texans would be an ideal destination for Barkley if the Eagles decide to trade him.

“Houston, to me, makes a lot of sense because I’ll tell you what, we talk about some of these quarterbacks earlier, whether it was Brock Purdy or Josh Allen and Caleb Williams, C.J. Stroud playing as well as any quarterback in the National Football League right now,” Woody said.

“Their offense is playing outstanding football. The one aspect of their offense that’s really not where it needs to be is a rushing attack. And so, I think a guy like Saquon Barkley could really add to that running back room down in Houston.”

However, some Texans fans questioned whether the potential move would be worth the cost.

“As a Texans fan, I’m personally okay with not getting him… he’s great when he’s healthy, but that’s rare when he is!” one supporter said.

“I’m still not understanding why we need an almost 30-year-old Saquon past his prime… people just be tryna play Madden out here,” another remarked.

“Once again seeing rumblings of Saquon being moved, but if it’s to Houston, what was the point of the D-Mo trade? I like Monty and everything, but I’d have to imagine he’d be part of the trade package if this comes to fruition,” a fan wrote.

Barkley has missed Philadelphia’s last two games because of a hamstring injury, although he returned to full practice Saturday and is listed as questionable for Monday’s game against Dallas.

However, some Texans fans believe adding another running back could make sense given the team’s current injury situation.

“People thinking a Saquon Barkley trade to Houston isn’t a good idea must not have seen that Jawhar Jordan 25-yard cutback run for the Touchdown vs. the #1-ranked Jaguars run defense last game. We have two RBs out with injury. Not saying we need Saquon, but another RB won’t hurt us,” one added.

In a separate ESPN trade-deadline exercise, Ben Solak proposed a hypothetical deal that would send Woody Marks and three future draft picks to Philadelphia for Barkley. The proposal is speculative, with no reported agreement between the franchises.

However, some Texans fans believe Marks deserves more opportunities rather than being used as a trade asset.

“I don’t get why? Woody is good enough; not his fault he gets defenders in his face before mesh point is even established,” a Texans fan wrote.

“Houstonians don’t want him. We are happy with Woody,” another added.

These sentiments are justified, as Marks has carried more of the workload with David Montgomery sidelined by an injury. He currently ranks No. 29 in PFN RB Impact with a 72.1 score.
