NEW YORK -- Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs had to be helped off the floor late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 111-102 win over the New York Knicks after suffering an apparent noncontact right knee injury.
Suggs was on a breakaway fast break when his right knee appeared to buckle on his layup attempt with 2:09 remaining. Suggs stayed on the floor for several moments in pain before being helped to his feet.
He walked gingerly to the Magic's locker room with help from team personnel.
Magic coach Sean Sweeney did not have an update on Suggs after the game, according to the Orlando Sentinel, beyond saying that he will be evaluated.
Sweeney said he talked briefly with Suggs after the game and that he was in good spirits.
Suggs, the fifth pick in the 2021 draft, has averaged 12.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds over his six-year career. He battled injuries the past two years that limited him to 92 games.
The Magic had already lost star Paolo Banchero to a low-grade high ankle sprain that is expected to sideline him multiple weeks.
