King’s Lynn Town moved up to fourth in the National League North standings after picking up a point from a 1-1 draw at Merthyr Town this afternoon.
Kwame Thomas climbed off the bench to rescue a point for the Linnets in South Wales, in a game which also saw the visitors miss a penalty and hit the woodwork.
The Linnets made the brighter start to the contest but found themselves behind after 29 minutes when Ben Margetson headed the hosts into the lead against the run of play.
Lynn were forced to chase the game and manager Paul Caddis made a triple substitution seven minutes into the second half, introducing Thomas, Jamal Mohammed and Ross Crane in a bid to turn things around.
The changes had the desired effect as the visitors began to take control and put the Merthyr defence under increasing pressure.
Lynn were handed a golden opportunity to draw level in the 68th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but Jesse Nwabueze was denied from the spot by home goalkeeper Jamie Cogman.
However, the Linnets were not to be denied for long and finally found their equaliser just two minutes later.
Ryan Tunnicliffe saw his effort rebound into the path of Thomas, who reacted quickest to turn the ball home and register his second goal of the campaign.
