The All-WNBA teams were announced on Saturday, and Caitlin Clark’s spot is causing a lot of divisive discourse online.

The 2026 WNBA season ended in disappointment for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The team was bounced out in the first round of the playoffs by the Las Vegas Aces. The young guard has recently received some good news, though, adding another accolade to her burgeoning career.

The All-WNBA teams were named on Saturday, with Clark being named to the first team for the second time in her career already. She made it alongside Olivia Miles, with Paige Bueckers missing out and being named to the second team. A lot of WNBA fans on social media didn’t agree with this.

WNBA fans online claim Caitlin Clark should not have been named to the All-WNBA First Team

The All-WNBA First Team selections include Clark, Miles, Kelsey Mitchell, A’ja Wilson, and Breanna Stewart. It is hard to disagree with a five like that. The Second Team has names on it like Bueckers, Jackie Young, Rhyne Howard, Shakira Austin, and Angel Reese.

There is now an incredible amount of talent in the W, so these selections will likely often be contentious. This time, it is Caitlin Clark on the receiving end of all the doubts and questions.

“Caitlin Clark over Paige Bueckers… Allisha Gray snubbed. Wow, not surprised though,” one fan said, “Caitlin on the First Team makes it a fraud list,” a second fan suggested. “They need to flip first and second team, aside from A’ja dawg. What are they doing?” a third fan asked.

“I hate y’all for putting Paige in second team when she deserved the first one by far,” one reply read. “They love forcing CC in places she doesn’t belong lol Angel should’ve been first team,” another comment claimed. “Caitlin Clark was just not on that level this year,” a sixth fan wrote.

Clark has been a fan-favourite for so long, this almost feels a bit odd to read. The Fever guard is usually the one getting most of the shouts in her favour. It is hard to say that she objectively did not deserve it, but the response from many fans provides some insight into how the superstar’s narrative is changing.
