Things are once again falling apart at Manchester United, despite the club appearing in such a positive place just months ago.

Head coach Michael Carrick has led the club to its worst start in 40 years, with just one Premier League win in eight attempts.

However, the Red Devils boss has been drawn the short straw, after being handed little-to-no support in the summer transfer window.

The likes of newly-promoted Hull City and Ipswich Town spent more than them despite a third-place finish thanks to Carrick’s efforts. Director of Football Jason Wilcox led the charge with their transfer business, signing three midfielders and back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

In short, their summer was hugely underwhelming.

After a dreadful start to the campaign, things are looking uncomfortable at the football club.

Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada is under scrutiny, with suggestions that he could be on the chopping block at Old Trafford relatively soon.

Club legend Gary Neville has had his say on head coach Michael Carrick, revealing his belief that his former teammate will be sacked following a dire three-nil defeat against Bournemouth.

Neville has discussed his opinion on Director of Football Wilcox with Sky Sports, saying, “The fans have turned on Jason Wilcox in the second half. Now Jason Wilcox, again, shouldn’t be in the position.

“Jason Wilcox is a technical director who’s had an academy director background, who’s making a journey up, underneath the sporting director, all of a sudden, he’s then making the biggest decisions at one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

“And again, he’s been thrust into a position ahead of his time.”

It’s another damning account from Neville, who is clearly fed up with the decision-making at Manchester United.

The club may be in for another period of change now, but it’s becoming very apparent to many that Jason Wilcox may not be right for the role.
