Tennessee Titans CEO Burke Nihill has apologised to the team’s fans after their miserable start to the 2026 NFL season left them winless through five games.

The Titans are 0-5 for the first time since 2009, with supporters facing another difficult campaign despite changes to the team’s coaching staff and front office.

Quarterback Cam Ward has also struggled to find his footing in his second NFL season, adding to the pressure on a franchise that has gone 3-14 in each of the previous two campaigns.

Burke Nihill admits Tennessee Titans have not been good enough

Nihill addressed the situation in an email to season-ticket members, acknowledging the frustration felt by supporters who have continued to back the team.

“We’re sorry,” Nihill wrote. “You’ve spent far too many Sunday afternoons leaving Nissan Stadium disappointed, and you’re tired of it. Many of you have stood by the Titans for more than a quarter century, and that loyalty deserves far better than what we’ve given you.”

The CEO also admitted that the organisation had more work to do to regain the trust of its fanbase. He pointed to plans to improve the Nissan Stadium experience and give supporters a greater voice in the club’s future.

However, Nihill recognised that off-field changes would not erase the team’s struggles on the pitch.

The Titans have already made major changes in recent years, appointing Mike Borgonzi as general manager in 2025 before hiring Robert Saleh as head coach in 2026.

Despite those moves, the results have not improved. Tennessee’s immediate concern remains getting its season back on track, with Ward’s development a major part of that challenge.

The quarterback has recorded 896 passing yards and three passing touchdowns this season, alongside two rushing touchdowns. He is now 3-19 as an NFL starter.

Nihill has continued to back the people responsible for turning things around, insisting that Borgonzi has a plan and praising the stability Saleh brings to the coaching staff.

That faith will be tested as the Titans prepare for their next game against the Indianapolis Colts, who enter the matchup with a 2-3 record.

For Tennessee, the apology acknowledges the frustration surrounding the franchise. Better performances and results will be needed to give supporters a reason to believe the current rebuild can succeed.
