Harry Maguire has said that he and his teammates are "fully behind" Michael Carrick after Manchester United slumped to a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday.
United are enduring a wretched run of form, having failed to win any of their last eight games.
Defeat at Bournemouth capped the worst week of Carrick's coaching career at the club so far, after his side also lost 4-1 at Como in the Champions League on Wednesday.
But, when asked by BBC Sport about whether he hoped Carrick could be the one to turn United's fortunes around, Maguire replied: "Yeah, of course.
"We're fully behind Michael. He come into the team last season and turned our season around and managed to finish in third position and managed to get Champions League football this season.
"As individuals, we're not playing well enough."
United's staff have faced criticism from their own players in recent weeks, with Lisandro Martínez questioning director of football Jason Wilcox after a defeat to Atlético Madrid, and Bruno Fernandes remaining an unused substitute on Sunday after he took issue with Carrick's tactics at Como.
But Maguire, who captained the side against Bournemouth in Fernandes' absence, suggested that some responsibility also lay with the players.
"The results haven't been good enough," he said. "The performances haven't been good enough.
"Individually we've got to look at ourselves and find something within ourselves to bring more to the team. That's every player."

He added: "We can still have a good season but something's got to change quick. It's been a disappointing start, there's no doubt about that."
United are next in action at Chelsea on Saturday.
