Thanks to a bizarre Saturday night kick off time amid a Rangers 8PM KO curiosity, Celtic have a frustrating chance to open the gap to Rangers to 5 points again.
Rangers will face Dundee on Saturday evening and with Dundee a solid 4th place in the league, they will be far from pushovers. With two wins in the last two, they will be a solid test and look to be this season’s Motherwell.
Meanwhile Celtic will already have hosted Derek McInnes’ former side Hearts at Parkhead that afternoon, in their first meeting there since the final day drama last campaign.
Both Hearts and Dundee are looking fairly solid this campaign, and both will be tests.
But it’s a weekend with many subplots.
Hearts could well get a result in Glasgow’s east end, and that would open a huge door for Rangers that evening.
On the other hand, a home win and the gauntlet is handed to Rangers to secure a tricky 3 points away to Dundee, to restore the gap back down to two.
It’s a surreal one for sure, and the KO time doesn’t help.
Fans we heard from appeared bullish about the 8PM slot, but we feel it’s a truly terrible time for Rangers to be playing.
We can’t honestly remember too many domestic Saturday night kick offs at all for this club.
But nevertheless, we must deal with it and if Celtic do get the maximum points on their patch, it’s imperative that we match that.
It is a reversal of last week where Rangers got the result, and handed the pressure to Celtic. They did answer it well, in fairness, and that is what Rangers must do if our rivals get the win.
Anything less from Martin O’Neill’s men is the result Rangers want to at least go joint top of points.
But that still requires a big win at Dens. Not an easy place to go with hosts in good form and Rangers 8PM KO curiosity.
